Everyone was invited to be a part of the newest Fandom Convention last year – Fangaea!  This multi-faceted, action-packed, fandom event featured Comic books, Table Top and Video Games, Anime, Steam Punk, Cosplay, Technology, Fun Panels, and so much more!

Fangaea (fan-JEE-uh) was a multi-faceted, action-packed, fandom event that featured Table Top and Video Games, Anime, Steampunk, Cosplay, Technology, Virtual Reality, Fun Panels, Model Building and so much more!  Fangaea is Where Fandoms Join Forces for Fun!

 

2018 San Diego Padres Filipino Heritage Night– Saturday, August 11

The San Diego Padres were proud to bring back FILIPINO HERITAGE NIGHT, on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at Petco Park – and Silk Road Productions was proud to produce the Pre-Game Entertainment show once again! Your family, friends, and organizations were there to have fun while celebrating the Filipino culture at the Annual Filipino Heritage Night as the Padres took on the Phillies! It was a HOME RUN as Pre-Game Entertainment took place at the beautiful Park at the Park beginning at 3:30pm, all the way to Game Time at 5:40pm.

A portion of each ticket sold through this event supported the House of the Philippines and their new building project in Balboa Park’s International Cottages! Everyone had fun while supporting the preservation and education of Filipino culture at the same time!

 

5th Annual San Diego Night Market* – Saturday, June 23

San Diego’s first and largest Asian-influenced Night Market returned this summer!  Silk Road was once again at the helm of the night market that started the night market trend in San Diego. Presented and hosted by the Convoy District, the 5th year was a special ground-breaking moment.  Check www.sdnightmarket.com for full details and all other information.

For the first time, the main junction of Convoy Street was connected for our attendees to roam freely between the unique & delicious night market foods, merchandise, and the award-winning local bars and restaurants! Taking place in the Convoy District – an emerging cultural, dining, and innovative economic hub – the San Diego Night Market returned for its showcase of unique, mouthwatering food and diverse, modern performances, with specials at all your favorite award-winning bars and restaurants nearby!

 

4th Annual Asian Festival Day at the San Diego County Fair – Saturday, June 2

The fourth annual, AWARD WINNING, Asian Festival Day at the San Diego County Fair happened on Saturday, June 2 and the Silk Road team was once again working with the San Diego County Fair once again to bring the return of this fun, family-friendly event. This fun and exciting day was filled with cultural performances from our Asian and Pacific Islander communities in San Diego County. There was art, cultural entertainment from 11:00am – 7:00pm, including lion dances, Kung fu, traditional dance, and other performances representing the Philippines, China, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, India, and more! There was also a cultural exhibition, dances, ikebana, and so much more – all at the Paddock Stage!  Then we closed the night at the Coors Light Rock On Stage for our headlining performers for Asian Festival Day – The Filharmonic!

 

4th Annual D6 Night Market* – Saturday, May 19

Presented and hosted by the Alliance for Quality Education and the D6 Night Market Team, the Silk Road team is proud to be part of the team for the fourth year.  The 4th Annual D6 Night Market was another FREE family-friendly public event and it took place at the Mira Mesa Community Park on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

D6 Night Market, named for San Diego’s City Council District 6 (“D6”), one of the most culturally diverse district in San Diego, will have all the elements of a successful night market including a mix of food and beverage stands, vendors, and entertainment.  And the fan favorite Laser Light Show was once again a favorite!

 

9th Annual Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego – Saturday, May 5

The 9th Annual Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego, celebrating the diversity of cultures, ethnicities, and people from Asia and the Pacific Islands in San Diego!  It was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Mira Mesa Senior Center (8460 Mira Mesa Blvd).

Family-friendly, fun, and FREE admission, and in 2018, we will be celebrating the Year of the Dog! Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Asian Cultural Festival will be scaled down to a more intimate event in 2018 and we will be at the Mira Mesa Senior Center. But we will be back in the park for our huge 10th year anniversary in 2019! Presented by the Azuna Kai and led by Silk Road Productions, the Asian Cultural Festival created an experience that bridged generations, ethnicities, and communities.

 

33rd Annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair and Parade* – Saturday, April 28

The 33rd Annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair and Parade took place on April 28, 2018, and this year’s theme was “Linda Vista: Our Stories.” This fantastic community event had three stages of entertainment, a 50+ unit parade, multi-cultural food, carnival rides, and a fun kid’s zone! Admission to the Fair and Parade was free and there were numerous cultural exhibits, varied ethnic food offerings, and delightful artistic performances – all eagerly anticipated by residents and visitors to San Diego!

2017

2nd Annual San Diego Ramen Festival – Thursday, November 16

ramen-logoAzunakai and the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana were co-presenters of our 2nd Annual Ramen Festival.  We made the move to an incredible venue at the Port Pavilion at the Broadway Pier!

The event sold out for the second year as we had over a thousand guests trying ramen from some of the best ramen restaurants in San Diego!  Our second year was a memorable experience overlooking the harbor and included out-of-this-world entertainment!

 

San Diego Asian Film Festival* – Saturday, November 11

The 18th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival was presented and hosted by the Pacific Arts Movement and our Silk Road team was a big part of the Saturday night annual dinner gala awards! The San Diego Asian Film Festival Gala Awards is the most celebrated evening of the film festival.

The red-carpet event brings together more than 500 entertainment, business, and community leaders to celebrate the SDAFF’s top independent films, enjoy spectacular live entertainment, and meet celebrity guests.

 

Parade Band Foundation’s Liberty Station Band Review* – Saturday, November 11

pbf-logo-imageThe 8th Annual Parade Band Foundation‘s Band Review returned at a new location – Liberty Station!  Marching bands from all over southern California participated in a marching band competition in the streets of Liberty Station for this spectator event!  Many joined us for the Parade Band Foundation’s Liberty Station Review & Community Festival: A Salute to Our Veterans!  Our Silk Road team was on board to help make this happen again!

 

2nd Annual Vim & Vigor Festival* – Saturday, October 14

vv-logo-fb-logoThe 2nd Annual Vim & Vigor Arts and Wellness Festival made a return in the fall in time for Health Literacy Month in October!  Vim & Vigor celebrates the art, culture, health, and wellness, as well as the diversity of San Diego County.  This great event was presented by Kalusugan + Kalakasan and produced by Silk Road Productions; this event will make San Diego County a happier and healthier place!

 

53rd Annual Poway Days Parade* – Saturday, September 9

The 53rd Annual Poway Days Parade took place on Saturday, September 9th, 2017!  The community favorite closed down Poway Road from Pomerado Road to Bowron Road.  Hosted and presented by the Rotary Club of Poway-Scripps, Silk Road Productions is the coordinating arm of this fantastic community event.

There were nearly 100 parade units, ranging from community organizations, fun floats, marching bands, service vehicles, and many more! This year’s parade theme was “Happiness is Helping Others.”

 

San Diego Padres Filipino Heritage Night* – Saturday, August 19

The San Diego Padres, with the help of our team, brought back FILIPINO HERITAGE NIGHT, on Saturday, August 19th at Petco Park!  Family, friends, and more were all invited to the ballgame to have fun while celebrating the Filipino culture at the Annual Filipino Heritage Night as the Padres take on the Washington Nationals!

It was a HOME RUN with the Pre-Game Entertainment at the beautiful Park at the Park beginning at 3:10pm, all the way to Game Time at 5:40pm. Performances were a mix of modern and contemporary artists from the Filipino community in Southern California!

 

San Diego Night Market* – Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25

Taking place in the Convoy Districtan emerging cultural, dining, and innovative economic hub – the San Diego Night Market, hosted and presented by the Convoy District and produced by Silk Road Productions, returned for its third tasty showcase of unique, mouthwatering food, and diverse, modern performances!  This open-air, urban experience is inspired by the lively night markets found in large cities throughout robust Asia.

From boba drinks and specialty tofu, to cultural goods and hip apparel, new and experienced Night Market goers discovered over 30 vendors selling Asian-inspired street food and merchandise. Centralized within the event was a performance stage featuring cultural and modern dances, bands, live DJs, and unique entertainment not to be missed!

 

3rd Annual Asian Festival Day at the San Diego County Fair* – Saturday, June 3

The third annual, AWARD WINNING, Asian Festival Day at the San Diego County Fair took place on opening weekend on Saturday, June 3rd! This fun and exciting day was filled with cultural and contemporary acts from our Asian and Pacific Islander communities in San Diego County and we continued the fair’s theme of “Where the West is Fun!”

There was expect cultural and traditional entertainment from 11am-7pm, including lion dances, Kung fu demos, traditional dance, and other performances representing the Philippines, China, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, India, and more!

And of course, we had plenty of Asian Food! Vietnamese, Filipino, Japanese, Thai, and Boba drinks! And the bars next to the paddock will served Shangri-La, Sapporo, and San Miguel Beers!

 

3rd Annual D6 Night Market* – Saturday, May 20

The 3rd Annual D6 Night Market was a FREE, family-friendly, public event took place at the Mira Mesa Community Park on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm.  Hosted and presented by the Alliance for Quality Education, the Silk Road team was a part of the committee and happy to help produce this event with the D6 Night Market Committee.

There were over 20 food vendors, representing ethnic cuisines from all over the world!  Two stages of entertainment, with a raging dance competition on the Community Stage and top talent on the Light the Night Stage, this was a great community event!

 

8th Annual Asian Cultural Festival – Saturday, May 6

The 8th Annual Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego returned on Saturday, May 6th, at the Mira Mesa Community Park (8575 New Salem Street, San Diego, CA 92126), from 10:00am to 6:00pm!  We featured two stages with over 30 cultural, traditional, and contemporary acts!  There was plenty for everyone at this family-friendly, fun, and FREE event!

We had our fan favorite Cultural Row, with interactive, cultural booths by community organizations and nonprofits displaying and educating about their cultures!  The Ramen Eating Contest (sponsored by Zion Market), our Video Game tent (by GamerCon), and our Beer Garden added elements to the festival that was for everyone!

 

32nd Annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair* – Saturday, April 22

The Linda Vista Fair, held annually on the 6900 block of Linda Vista Road, is intended to promote cultural awareness and understanding within the City of San Diego. Its numerous cultural exhibits, varied ethnic food offerings and delightful artistic performances are eagerly anticipated by residents and visitors to San Diego.

We were very excited for the 2017 Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair and Parade!  Our theme in 2017 was focused on Healthy Communities! It emphasized the health resources available to Linda Vista and San Diego.  Our parade had another record number of entries on what was a gorgeous April Saturday!

 

35th Annual San Diego Chinese New Year Fair* – Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12

cny-rooster-finalThe 35th Annual Chinese New Year Food and Cultural Fair took place on February 11th & 12th, 2017 at 3rd Avenue and J Street, in San Diego’s historic Chinatown district! Silk Road worked with the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, the San Diego Chinese Center, and the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum to bring some incredible Lunar New Year fun to San Diego!

This year’s fair celebrated the Year of the Rooster and was filled with spectacular dance and cultural performances, including a special Chinese Acrobat performance!

 

Convoy Bar Crawl: Lunar New Year Edition – Saturday, January 28, 2017

Silk Road Productions, in collaboration with local business owners on Convoy Street, presented the inaugural Convoy Bar Crawla NEW Lunar New Year tradition on Convoy Street to celebrate with your closest friends!

Drink the good luck in & celebrate the 2017 Lunar New Year with the first-ever, truly one-of-a-kind bar crawls in San Diego – The Convoy Bar Crawl! Far from your typical bar crawl, The Convoy Bar Crawl offered an experience that included exotic food, drink specials, billiards and some late-night karaoke – it was quite the night out on the town – Convoy Style.

San Diego Ramen Festival – Sunday, November 20, 2016

ramen-logoThe San Diego Ramen Festival was the newest and most exciting food event happening in San Diego!  It’s time to get your ramen on – and we all went ramen crazy on Sunday, November 20th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at the first ever San Diego Ramen Festival!

We had different types of ramen, all ready for you to try and slurp to your ramen delight!  And we are going totally ramen crazy with a ramen eating contest, ramen inspired art by local artists, live entertainment, vendors, and a beer garden!

 

Bayfront Band Review and Festival*– Saturday, November 12th

pbf-logo-imageParade Band Foundation, Inc. continues to keep an American tradition alive in our communities; showcasing their youth and their involvement in the musical arts publicly on parade and on stage.  Silk Road was involved for the first time to produce the festival at the Chula Vista Bayfront! As the largest free event of its kind in San Diego County and top five largest in Southern California, the annual event draws thousands of scholastic music participants from throughout San Diego and beyond!

 

San Diego Gulls Filipino Community Night– Saturday, October 22nd

The first ever Filipino Community Night with the San Diego Gulls took place in October and it was an exciting fun and action packed night with one of the most exciting sports teams in San Diego!  Many who have never been to a hockey game, enjoyed an epic night on the ice rink against a soon to be named opponent.  Silk Road was proud to be a part of this inaugural tradition!

 

Vim & Vigor: An Arts and Wellness Festival – Saturday, October 8, 2016

vv-logo-fb-logoThe Vim & Vigor: Art and Wellness Festival celebrates the art, culture, health, and wellness, as well as the diversity of San Diego!  This free celebration occurred at the County of San Diego Waterfront Park (1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, California 92101) from 10:00AM to 5:00PM!  This event was presented by Kalusugan + Kalakasan.
