The Rites of Spring - A Celebration of Art and Dance
Silk Road Productions is bringing excitement to San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter with this art and cultural, Spring themed event! Come see a special exhibit of San Diego artists' interpretation of the theme of "Spring" - what spring means to them and how they chose to express it. There will also be special dance performances from around the world, so expect another great show at this all-ages, free event!
"The Rites of Spring" will also benefit "Eunime por Tijuana," an organization that works with and helps children in Tijuana with HIV. There will be a silent auction for special gift prizes as sponsored by Debut Events. All proceeds from the auction will go to Eunime por Tijuana.
Come for the art and dances, but stay for the cocktails and the music. Special guest DJ for the evening will be DJ SG (of StereoTypeSound/Blackout Entertainment)!
Our performances will include (tentative times):
7:45pm - Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble, a group from the Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts and Education Center performing traditional gong music & dances from Mindanao Island!
8:30pm - Dilek Hoss, the only known Turkish dancer in the San Diego area and an incredibly gifted belly dancer representing the culture of Turkey!
9:00pm - Capoeira Mandinga San Diego, a martial arts ensemble performing this African-Brazilian art that involves self-defense, dance, singing and percussion!
